Shield911 provides a revolutionary technological solution designed to protect people from every day threats anywhere in South Africa, via a mobile panic button. When you request emergency assistance through the Shield911 APP, a dedicated crisis manager calls you back to help you through your emergency. The Crisis manager identifies the emergency and sends either private armed security responders in a security emergency or ER 24 in a medical emergency. In the event that there isn’t a private security responder in your area, Shield911 will send your request to local law enforcement in your community so they can come to your aid as quickly as possible. Shield911 takes the security of a home alarm system and makes it mobile.
There are “Panic button” services out there that offer ‘panic’ calls via a speed dial number, or sends alerts to family members, or can track your location via GPS. The Shield911 App is different as it combines all these functions managed through a centralised private security control room which connects the best private security companies nationally. That means you get the protection from multiple private security companies anywhere any time for less than half the cost of private home security.
The Shield911 APP is free to download to any mobile phone or tablet, however there is service charges applicable for the use of the service. It works with either GPS (Global Positioning System) or LBS (Location Based Services) and in just one tap will send an alert message to the Shield911 Security’s control room, where a crisis manager will assess the nature of the emergency and then dispatch the appropriate response to exactly where it is needed.
After you have paid your once off activation fee, you will be sent a welcome SMS with an activation code. You will also be sent a link to a landing page where you can download the APP. Alternatively, you can visit the relevant APP store. Once you have downloaded the APP, open the APP and select ACTIVATE. Enter your cell phone number, create your password, enter the activation code and press ACTIVATE.
The monthly subscription price is R175 per month. This will entitle you to unlimited private security call outs, unlimited medical emergency call outs and unlimited law enforcement notifications.
Shield911 has coverage in 80 major cities and towns in South Africa. We are constantly working on expanding the coverage of private security protection. If you would like more detail on the coverage please call 087 330 2415. The medical emergency coverage is national – anywhere in South Africa. The law enforcement is the local South African Police Service in your community.
In the event that there isn’t a private security responder in your area, Shield911 will send your request to local law enforcement in your community so they can come to your aid as quickly as possible.
Shield911 only uses your location in emergency situations and the rest of the time we are not locating or tracking you. In an emergency time is of the essence and instead of you describing your location, or if you cannot talk, the Shield911 APP will establish your location.
Shield911 uses a very small amount of data when you open the APP and request assistance. Shield911 won’t use any of your data in the background. Please do not log out of the Shield911 APP while you’re not using the APP. It is defaulted to always be logged in and you need to be logged in to request assistance. This is important as you want to get to that function as quickly as possible in an emergency.
